Build (Hull) number |
|
|
|
Do
you possess a Builders Certificate, a Bill of Sale or Lloyds Hull Moulding
Certificate, the hull number (Works No.) is
to be found in these documents. If you have none original document, or if
you just want to compare the numbers, here is where to look.
On the earliest models, the number is situated in the engine compartment behind the starboard engine. Here should on top of the approximate 60 mm thick aft bulkhead be a flat piece, which might be painted over several times. Try to clean up the flat piece with steel wool and see if not a number comes up! Later the number was scratched on a brass plate, cast on to the bulkhead same place as above. On the photo below is shown build number 115.
From 1972/73 a three digit number is engraved into a brass plate, which is cast on to the vertical side of the aft wall in the middle between the engines. Here might be fitted isolation / equipment, which if necessary has to be removed to see the plate. The arrows on the photos below are pointing at the plate.
Sometimes the number also is to be found on little brass plate at the stairs down to the cabin, as seen on the pictures below. Both numbers are important, but the hull number the most.
Besides the above mentioned places, you will often find the number written with marker on the underside of the lify up cushion bases in the main cabin, under the wooden floor plates above the diesel tank in the cabin, or inside the gas compartment behind the flybridge chair or on the back of the side panels, as seen below.
From 1975/76 furthermore a Lloyd’s Register of Shipping registration number is cast into the hull outside at the port side on the transom stern just below the rubbing strake. It consists of 11 digits e.g. "IPS 720 331/77", where IPS stands for Ipswich (the local Lloyds office taking care of the yards in Brundall), the next 6 digits are Lloyds control numbers and "77" after the stroke indicates the year 1977. |
