Motorudskiftning /Build169/ Engine replacement


  Chivas (build 169) har vinter 2007/08 fået udskiftet sine Perkins T6.354 175Hk med fabriksnye Cummings 6BT 5.9 / 210Hk/Gear 1:1.125/Propeller 17x20" 4-bladede./ Pris ialt ca. 450000.-

Svend skriver: Da vi købte Chivas vidste vi godt at de originale motorer var slidte, så den første ferietur op ad Elben var spændende, og det viste sig at Chivas brugte lige meget diesel som smøreolie. Så beslutningen om at skifte motorerne blev taget på hjemvejen.

Udskiftningen startede vinter 2006/07, jeg byggede en kran så jeg kunne få de gamle motorer ud og de nye ind. Det viste sig vanskeligere end jeg havde regnet med, idet jeg havde regnet med at demontere det bagerste vindue i styrehuset for at slippe for at tage toppen af flybridgen, men der var ikke mange mm. at give af. Alt hjælpe udstvr på motorerne skulle fjernes plus topstykket. Da blokkene stod tilbage kunne de løftes op og ud igennem hullet til vinduet. Første del af projektet var overstået .

Anden del. Rengøring maling og isolering ingen problemer, men det tog tid, jeg var først klar til at montere de nye motorer i sommeren 2007. Følgende skulle monteres, Cummings motorer, gear,  elektronisk gear og gas, tryklejer med kardanaksel, alt dette skulle være klar til sommeren 2008, jeg blev færdig 2 dage før vores sommerferie.

Vores ferie blev brugt til prøvesejlaser og finjusteringer, hastigheden er jeg ikke sikker på, da jeg sejler uden trimflaps og max. 2000 omdr.

Svend writes: When we bought Chivas we knew that the original engines were worn out, so our first trip up the Elbe river was quite exciting, and it came for a day, that Chivas used as much oil as diesel. So the decision to replace the engines was taken on the way home.

The replacement started winter 2006/07, I built a crane, so I could get the old engines out and the new ones in. It showed to be a bit more difficult than I had expected, as I had expected to demount the window to the aft deck, to avoid to remove the top of the flybridge, but not many millimetres were between the top of the window and the engine. All extra equipment on the engines had to be removed including the cylinder head. When the cylinder block was ripped they could be removed sideways  through the window. First part of the project was over.

Second part. Cleaning and painting and isolation caused no problems, but it took time, I weren't ready to install the new engines before summer 2007. The following parts had to be mounted, Cummings engines, gear, electronic gear and throttle, pressure bearings including propeller shaft, all this had to be finished summer 2008, and I was ready 2 days before our holiday start.

Our holiday was used on test navigation and adjustments, I am not sure of the speed, as I am sailing without trim tabs and max. 2000 rev.
