Lloyds registration number in hull. |
|
|
|
From
1975/76 a Lloyd’s Register of Shipping registration number is cast into the hull
outside at the port side on the transom stern just below the rubbing
strake. It consists of 11 digits e.g. "IPS
6 014 50/76".
Below is an explanation
of the digits in the number: IPS
6 014 50/76 IPS = Ipswich, the Lloyds section, that dealt with the matter and issued the numbers.
6
=
1976, the last digit in the year, normally the year for entering the
contract, where the individual build or a series of builds
is assigned
number. IPS 6 014 50/76
014=
random
digits used by Lloyds (means nothing in this context). IPS 6 014 50/76
50 =
the number, of a series of numbers from Lloyds, which is assigned by the
yard to a specific build. IPS 6 014 50/76
76
=
1976, the year the build is finished.
