Strip for sliding windows |
If the strips, which the windows are sliding in, have begun to fray, they might be replaced by plastic art webbing (nylon) 25 x 1.5mm, which is to be bought in local Marine Shops in different colours. |
When the old strip is removed, one has to become aware of not to remove the thin plastic strip (if found) placed underneath the beading. The whole operation takes place while the window is still in place, and is a bit difficult, and it takes some skill, but the trouble is worthwhile, because when in place, the window glides as if smeared! If the webbing is cut with a scissors, it will fray. The best way of cutting is to melt it over, e.g. with an old hacksaw blade heated over a gas flame. |
