When new carpets has been laid,
it is nice if not they get frayed at the edges, due to ordinary use and
vacuum-cleaning. This can be avoided if either a border is sewn or the following
cheap solution is used.
Modern
carpets are not made of wool, but artificial material, so all you need is an old
iron, still in working order.
Put the fitted carpet on a table with 5-10cm overhang, and then lead the iron
(adjusted to cotton) slowly along the edge. Hereby are the fibers melting
together and preventing the edge to be frayed. You can lead the iron along
several times in different angles and thereby guarantee a firm edge.
Plain
and simple!
