When the carpet edge at the stairs to the cabin is unprotected, it is exposed to "kicking", which will cause fray and cracks. Here is a solution where the edge is hidden under an arrangement made by a stainless band 20x2mm, which is screwed on to a 15mm thick mahogany strip, by which room is made for the carpet edge to be put under.
