"Moonraker".

In the old days, ten, fifteen, twenty years ago, the Moonraker was known by anybody, looking for a motorboat. The fact that it isn’t just like that any more, might in principle be indifferent to us, if it wasn’t because it influences on the value of our boats. The fact that it is a beautiful boat, which makes people wish to possess such one when they see it, is great, but we aren’t that many to be seen!

Therefore it is of great importance, that we are doing something extra to preserve the knowledge of it. By, through our Society and Moonraker Owners Club, being intermediary in bringing about information, for example in setting up a web site on the Internet and other out-turned activities as well.

Lloyd’s Register of Shipping.

Moonraker Yachts received 1974 Lloyds L.R.B.C. approval (Lloyd’s Register Building Certificate) equivalent to Lloyd’s 100A 1, and to achieve that, the yard handed over necessary drawings, construction arrangements, hull lay-up and so on. We have written Lloyd’s asking whether the material still exists, and if it is possible to get copies. It’s a huge, and in this connection slack organization, and even though it’s months since we wrote, we expect, that an answer is not just around the corner.

Retrospect.

The season is drawing to a close. We can with the eyes of the society, look back on a satisfying first year with a good development.

We have a good co-operation with Moonraker Owners Club and have made a fine arrangement, which makes it possible to offer a good price on a combined membership.

Collecting workbooks, manuals and other documentation for copying, has been put into work, things that might help the individual Moonrakerowner.

We urge all having relevant material, not shown on the web site, no matter what, to give us a hint.

Facing a problem, which isn’t immediately manageable, don’t hesitate to call us and we will endeavour to search out the solution.

We have succeeded, bringing about the knowledge about the society to a broader circle, among other things via a notice in "Bådnyt" no. 9/2000, page 14. Has anybody seen the society mentioned other places, it would be appreciated if you gave us a ring.

All in all measures, which spread and preserve the knowledge of the Moonraker and due to that help the individual owner, partly directly and partly by increasing the demand for boats, ensuring the tied up capital.

Perkins Manual.

Perkins engine manual in Danish from 1972 has been posted in copy as a gift from the society. The manual aims at farming- and industrial engines, but is of course also current when it comes to maritime version, and is a fine help to the unpracticed.

When it comes to the professional introduction in maintenance and repair of Perkins diesel engines, the society can offer the original English Workshop Manual with the last updates.

Boat lifting.

Many have experienced, that the rubbing strake is torn off, when the boat is crane lifted. This is avoided if protective boards are used. Furthermore, is damaging of the fiberglass structure avoided, as the impact is spread to a larger area. I have used such boards for the last 14 years, and have during that period experienced no damages.

We’ve made some drawings, showing where to place the slings and making of protective boards. Price 19.-DKK incl. Postage.
